El Mastaba Centre stages Egypt’s first international folk festival, WANAS.

Our long-standing partners in Egypt, The El Mastaba Centre, presented WANAS in Cairo over the weekend of 18-20 September. This ambitious festival, Egypt’s first international folk festival, featured AAA artists, El Tanbura, NubaNour, Rango and the Bedouin Jerry Can Band plus artists from France, Netherlands and Scotland.

El Mastaba Centre Director and veteran musician, Zakaria Ibrahim, has achieved Worldwide success for his artists through a number of international tours and shows at World Music festivals, such as WOMAD UK, WOMAD Abu Dhabi, WOMAD Russia, Shubbak UK, WOMADelaide – Australia & New Zealand, Glastonbury, UK, Roskilde, Denmark and WOMEX in Spain. WANAS was the realisation of a long-held dream to bring international artists together in his home country.
