Etran Finatawa get ready for UK tour and album release

Etran Finatawa is a rare beacon of hope and unity shining out across the Sahel, where a whole region is feeling the shockwaves of the political upheaval in Mali. Their latest album was recorded in the desert, a deliberate attempt to bring the music back to it’s origins and a reminder that their homelands are shared by many.
Etran Finatawa first performed in the UK in 2007 to a spellbound WOMAD audience aware that they were witnessing something totally unique. Though the swirling Taureg guitars were familiar, the high, clear Wodaabe vocals had never been heard in a contemporary setting. For six years Etran Finatawa have travelled the world, but retain the ability to induce goosebumps in their audiences and every concert evokes the vast open skys of their desert homeland.
